At what age can a JW be baptised in the UK?
by jwfacts ini just received an email from an unbaptised publisher that made the following comment;.
in the uk the age of consent by law for a child is 16 and only then can they be baptized of their own free will.
is anyone aware of jws that have been baptised younger than 16 in the uk?.

The age 16 consent is to sexual intercourse.
That sounds about right, get baptized and you are f****d.

Death
by punkofnice inwhen i was a dub i was petrified of displeasing the trademark imaginary god that the wbt$ had invented.
i feared that kind of death.. the thought of being unconscious totally forevermore seems so weird.. now that i know the wbt$ was lying (as usual), and i realise there can't possibly be a god as described in religion i am now faced with the reality that i'll be dead and gone with nothing to carry me on after in a conscious way.
just because i don't want this to happen doesn't mean it won't.. oh, darn!

I went to a funeral today, the only person in the room that didn't know what was happening was in the coffin. He didn't even know he was dead. Thats how it is, back to oblivion.

if they were able to win on this ground, they could get out completely (although it could still be appealed to the ca supreme court).

Thanks for your work Caserious, I think you have summarised the issues very well.
As a layman, I think that the 1989 letter establishes a relationship certainly between the actions of the elders and the WT. It seems to create a hard nosed cynical framework in which the molester was able to carry out his crimes. I hope that the court find a way of taking the just route rather than the picky legalistic one.

Thanks for the summaries and analysis Cedars, I can confirm that everything you said is as you said it. I only was able to spend a few minutes examining it but I would say it is the most radical and wild ride the WT has put out for years. They seem to have been saving all their most speculative theorising for one intense shot.
Anyone (like Cedars) who wants to do a serious job of understanding and casting some critical reasoning to the issue will find themselves with an ice pack on their head. The arguments are convoluted and self-serving. I think the majority of dubs won't bother to even try to get to the bottom of it and will spend the next few years even more confused than ever.
